Burt Carlson

Burt Carlson has (9) USTAF age group first place awards in ultra-marathon championship races. Six golds in 24 hour raod races, two golds in 100K road races, one gold in a 50 mile trail race. Also several silver and bronze awards! The first gold was in 1990 at the Edmund Fitzgerald in Minnesota when it was a TAC World, and US Championship race. This finish made him the first person over age 65 to ever run 100K road race in Minnesota. 1996 was a good year in that he had age group championships wins in a 24 hour race, in a 100K race, and a 50 mile trail race–a grand slam. In 1997, at age 72, he racked up 935 racing miles! Also held (1) USTAF National Age Group record for a 12 hour race and (1) USTAF National Age Group Best for the 100K race.
